FUIMUS - Longacre Pit A3 Giclee Print

£40.00

In the mid-1800s East Cleveland’s agricultural economy was transformed by the discovery of ironstone, which saw rapid industrial growth and an influx of workers seeking employment in the mines and steelworks. The last mine closed in 1964 and the remaining blast furnace was demolished in 1973. Since then the area has seen economic decline.

These black and white images are embellished with the iron ochre discharged into Skinningrove Beck. They reflect the indelible marks of industry that are still visible in these once thriving communities.

This image, part of the 'FUIMUS : we have been' series, interprets the Longacre Pit site in Skelton-in-Cleveland, North Yorkshire.

'Fuimus : we have been' has been exhibited at Gallery 121, Islington in June 2026; as part of Ryedale Photography & Film Fest 2026; and has been Commended at an upcoming international competition.

Signed limited edition of 50. Giclee print on 240gsm archival matt paper.
